Poland-Cracow: New Temporarily Professed

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Franciscan Family was blessed with the addition of four new friars. All four are members of the Province of St. Anthony and Bl. James of Strepar in Poland (Cracow).

After a year of postulancy and a year of novitiate, Friars Tomasz BULDA, Tomasz KANIEWSKI, Michał GRYNIUK, and Michał ROMANIUK professed their first religious vows and publicly committed themselves to live in obedience, without anything of their own, and in chastity for one year.

“Brothers,” said the Minister Provincial, Friar Mariusz KOZIOŁ, “you are choosing religious life, or rather God is giving it to you, so that, in following this path, you may attain salvation and help your neighbor to be saved as well. Whenever crisis, doubt, or adversity arise, be like the [faithful] steward in the Gospel: ready to fight for the true good, for salvation, and for God.” At the same time, the Minister Provincial assured the newly professed that they are not alone on this journey: “With the help of the friars and the saints, you are called to attain perfect love,” he said. “This is achieved slowly, by carrying your cross and by denying yourselves. The Kalwaria Pacławska Shrine speaks to you about this. There are many struggles and trials ahead of you. However, you are not walking alone. Look in particular to the Servant of God, Friar Wenanty KATARZYNIEC, and his faithfulness in small things.”

The Rector of the Shrine, Friar Marian GOŁĄB, described this day as the celebration of the Franciscan vocation, emphasizing the importance of the vows taken by the friars. At the end of the Mass, the newly professed thanked God for looking upon them with mercy and choosing them for his service. They thanked their Superiors, confreres, parents, and all those who supported them in preparing and carrying out this celebration. They concluded by requesting prayer: “We ask all of you, dear friends, to remember us in your prayers, so that we may cooperate with God’s grace and respond each day to His call to love.”
